RHEON™ Technology Delivers Dynamic Support Without Added Compression

A new era of hi-tech sports bra

New research led by Professor Joanna Wakefield-Scurr and the team at Progressive Sports Technologies (PST) has shown that sports bras featuring RHEON™ technology reduce breast movement by an additional 15% compared to a conventional sports bra.

Commissioned by RHEON LABS®, this study addresses a significant challenge for women in sport: reducing breast movement and associated discomfort without increasing compression.

Key Findings

  • RHEON™ technology provides 15% more movement control during exercise than a conventional sport bra
  • Increases support level from ‘Medium’ to ‘High’ without added compression
  • Improves motion control during dynamic transitions, such as walking to running

How RHEON™ Works

At the heart of this innovation is RHEON™, a patented reactive polymer that remains soft and flexible in its natural state but stiffens under force to absorb energy.

In sports bras, RHEON™ strips are strategically placed to provide targeted, dynamic support that adapts to movement—offering control only when needed.

A Game-Changer for Women’s Sport

A recent study from Portsmouth University found that poorly controlled breast movement can reduce stride length by up to 4cm per step, adding an extra mile over a marathon distance. The latest RHEON™ research proves that integrating this technology into bras reduces movement and enhances comfort, empowering women to move with confidence.

Dr Sarah Karmel, Chief Science Officer at RHEON LABS, explains:

“Our goal is to develop technology that works with the body, not against it. This study highlights how RHEON™ adapts to movement, delivering support exactly when it’s needed—without restricting women’s natural motion. It’s a breakthrough in sports bra design.”

This research marks a step forward in tackling the physical barriers women face in sport, especially in multi-directional activities like football, tennis, and interval training.
