The Role

The Development Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Take project management responsibility for key customers’ development projects
  • Be the principal point of contact with the client’s own project manager from the project’s inception to the delivery of customer-ready product
  • Coordinate and prioritise the tasks of team members who may have responsibilities across more than one project and may report on a project basis to more than one Development Manager
  • Provide weekly progress updates to the Management Team – both verbal and written – and maintain the weekly action plans across his/her projects
  • Contribute one or more key development skills to the project portfolio: i.e. perform the role of a project team member as well as project manager in recognition of the growth stage of the development function
  • Help to define and implement improved systems, processes and capabilities as the organisation grows
  • Help to recognise the further recruitment needs of the development function and play a key role in identifying, selecting and ‘on-boarding’ new team members
  • Supporting the selling-on of new projects to existing customers and playing an ad-hoc role in selling to new customers
  • Generating key documents at critical stages of the project from project plans through requirement specifications to test or status reports

This role is critical to the successful growth of the company as it transfers project and customer management responsibilities currently held by the CTO and CEO. As such this role will become the primary communication channel between the Management Team and the project portfolio.

  • About RHEON LABS

RHEON LABS has developed a revolutionary mouldable material that is capable of absorbing high levels of energy in impact. It uses a property known as “strain-rate dependency” to allow this material to be flexible in normal wearing, but to stiffen instantaneously and temporarily at the moment of impact. This material can be moulded directly onto clothing and is both breathable and washable. The technology is patent-protected and emerged from research work carried out at Imperial College, London where the business operated for its first few years. See for further insight into this sports-focused proposition.

Poised now for rapid growth, RHEON LABS is building a team to widen the commercialisation of this exciting technology. Whilst the initial focus is on the sports-apparel sector, there are significant opportunities in several other sectors such as electronics, healthcare and defence. As part of its sports strategy, RHEON LABS is building the RHEON ingredient brand which will be carried by its key customers on their product labels.
